HERE, BUT NOWHERE
2014–ongoing

Here, But Nowhere is my attempt to put into photographs what it feels like to live between places. After moving to the United Kingdom, I found myself in a strange suspended state. I was here, but I didn’t feel grounded or completely at home. Returning to the country where I was born, I realised I didn’t quite belong there anymore either.

I’m not trying to photograph a particular place. I’m trying to photograph that distance: empty landscapes, passing figures, reflections, barriers and fractured views. Over time, the work has moved from the outside world towards a quieter, more psychological space.

Here, But Nowhere is a record of learning to live in that in-between state — not finding a home, but slowly accepting that perhaps the search itself has become part of where I exist.
