THE OLD MAN

2014

During the Notting Hill Carnival in 2014, I noticed an old man standing behind a temporary wooden fence outside his home.

As the carnival moved past, I kept returning to photograph him. People came and went in front of the fence, while he remained on the other side, watching.

What first caught my attention gradually became the subject of the series: the contrast between the movement and energy of the carnival and this solitary man, physically separated from it by a simple wooden barrier.
